, is a Dravidian language spoken predominantly by the people of Karnataka in south western region of India. Kannada is originated from the Dravidian family of languages. Kannada language is also spoken in parts of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Kerala and Goa. Kannada is one of the 22 scheduled languages of India. The Kannada script is the official script of the state of Karnataka and is used by the Kannada people to write Kannada. Kannada is written from left to right and has its own set of vowels and consonants, which are used to write words and sentences. Kannada has a rich literary tradition and has produced numerous works of literature including epics, poetry, drama, and fiction. Kannada is also widely used in education and is the official language of the state of Karnataka.
